Congratulations! You have been selected to serve on the 2026-2027 Addis Jemari Teen Board! 

Our Teen Board: 

  • Promotes the mission of Addis Jemari
  • Supports projects that directly impact programs in Ethiopia
  • Gains insight into Ethiopian culture and our work
  • Builds leadership and teamwork skills
  • Assists with AJ events and initiatives
  • Takes an active role in creating change

By accepting this position, you are promising to:

  • Respond to AJ Teen Board correspondence in a timely manner (within 48 hours). If you respond late, 15 minutes will be added to your overall service hour requirement.
  • Attend at least three of the four quarterly meetings each year. If you cancel your scheduled meeting attendance the day of the meeting, one additional service hour will be added to your overall service requirement.
  • Volunteer for at least 10 hours with Addis Jemari throughout the year at events, workgroups, or through special projects (quarterly meetings do not count towards the 10 hours)
  • Help plan and participate in four Teen Board events/fundraisers/initiatives each school year (BBQ & Baskets event, Christmas in Ethiopia campaign, AJ Threads,  and Summer Camp Curriculum project) in a meaningful way.
  • Have access to transportation to attend meetings in North Raleigh (meetings held in Zip code 27614, for now, could change) for quarterly meetings and any workgroups you sign up to participate in (Zoom is not an option for quarterly meetings, must be present in person)
  • Each quarterly meeting (roughly September, December, February, and May) will have 3-4 opportunities to attend. This means we will hold each quarterly meeting multiple times, giving  different dates/times to attend to better accommodate schedules. Those meetings will always be held on a Sunday or Monday. If you know you can never attend a meeting on a Sunday or Monday, then please reconsider your ability to participate in the Teen Board.

*Note: Failure to meet these commitments may make you ineligible to reapply in the future or request recommendation letters or references from Addis Jemari.
