Addis Jemari is sharing with all of you a unique series about the heart and soul behind AJ…all of YOU and how we are better together. Here is a word from one of our favorite AJ Marketplace customers, Shannon Handschumacher, and why she agrees we are #BetterTogether.
A couple of summers ago I met a sweet young lady at my pool and we began to talk. We talked a lot….day after day…and Cindy began to tell me her story. I was touched and amazed by the things she shared with me. But, one of the things that touched me the most was her love for the Lord and how she wanted to make a difference. She not only talked about making a difference….she was actually putting her ideas into action. This is how I learned about Addis Jemari. This is an amazing organization that is making a difference in the lives of others on a daily basis. The lives of these young women of Addis Jemari are being transformed into something beautiful and hopeful.
While hanging out with my new friend I happened to notice a beautiful leather bag that she was carrying. She told me how the bag was “real” leather and handmade in Ethiopia. She explained how AJ sold leather bags, jewelry, scarves, etc and all of the profits went directly to help Addis Jemari. I ordered my first leather bag and I was in love. I ordered another and then another……and now I have quite the collection. They are made of such high quality and you can literally smell the “leather,” which I love. I’ve collected the famous “Waterfall” necklace in many colors and some earrings and bracelets as well. I love being able to “shop with a purpose” and know that I am helping such a worthy organization. I know that Addis Jemari will be around for a long time and they will continue to help young women throughout Ethiopia. AJ is truly making a difference and there is no doubt that the Lord will continue to bless them.
