Giving Tuesday: Emebet Felt Hopeless but After Income Generation Training, Now She Feels Hopeful!

Nov 22, 2021

Meet  Emebet, one of the 50 mothers in our Family Empowerment Program (FEP).

Emebet is a mother of two children. The highest grade she completed was 7th grade.

When she joined our Family Empowerment Program (FEP) in 2019, she had a feeling of hopelessness about her life. Because of the economic challenge she was in, Emebet was thinking of moving back to the countryside to live with her extended family.

Courageously Emebet fought through her hardships and she is now ready to start her Income Generating Activity (IGA). She wants to set up a small shop for selling injera (Ethiopian flat bread). Our Ethiopian staff helped her in the detail planning of the business and helped to identify and list what kind of input and resources are needed to run this business.

The Income Generating Activity is a key component of our Family Empowerment Program and includes training, resources, and interventions we provide to help families increase their household income — with the ultimate goal of becoming self-reliant.

Emebet is so proud to have her IGA plan in place and is full of hope that she will be successful in her business.

Would you join us on this Giving Tuesday by investing in this female entrepreneur? Our goal is to raise $15,000 today to help her and our other 49 FEP mothers receive the startup funding they need to get their business off the ground.

Your donation will make a difference in the lives of the two children that Emebet is raising! Please visit https://addisjemari.org/yearend2021 and make your life-changing donation today!
