Because the factory jobs available to those living in Akaki Kality, where our Family Empowerment Program families are from, are not steady or obtainable, due to lack of proper education or training that is needed, many families rely on selling fruits, vegetables, and other daily goods through roadside stands. With the right resources and financial backing to purchase the merchandise for resale daily, this can be a reliable way for one to earn a living and provide for their family. Many of the families we serve do not have the means to acquire the financial backing that is needed to make this a steady source of income.
