Our First College Graduate

Help us celebrate this new beginning!

In 2016, Addis Jemari opened the doors of AJ Home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia—a safe, loving home for orphaned and vulnerable teenage girls. More than just shelter, AJ Home provides education, discipleship, economic empowerment, and life-changing support to help break the cycle of generational poverty.

One of the first girls to walk through those doors was Semenesh. After losing her mother at a young age, she spent nearly a decade in the government orphanage system before arriving at AJ Home—just as she was about to age out.

From day one, Semenesh embraced every opportunity, meeting every challenge with resilience and grace. And today, we’re thrilled to share that she has graduated from college—a powerful milestone that proves what’s possible when we invest in the potential of every child.

But that’s not all—Semenesh is now thriving in her first job as a sales supervisor at a company that distributes flour, sugar, and other bulk goods. She oversees both the in-house team and field reps, and she loves her work and her colleagues. She recently earned her degree in Marketing and Management from St. Mary’s College and already dreams of owning her own business.

From a teenage girl stepping into AJ Home in 2016 to a confident graduate leading teams in the workforce, Semenesh’s journey is a shining success story—and your support made it possible.

Thank you for believing in the mission of Addis Jemari—and in girls like Semenesh.
