Summer camps at our Family Empowerment Center are in full swing, bringing joy and learning to over 80 students each day!
Our Teen Board mission team kicked off the first week of camp on July 8 and has now returned to the US. The camp will run for a total of eight weeks, Monday through Friday.
The primary purpose of the camps is to provide a safe environment where children can learn and play, keeping their minds engaged during the summer months.
We offer five exciting camp areas:
Building and Math: Campers have already built two carpet ball games and a farm table. More projects are planned, including additional farm tables, benches for FEP, and a new seating area for our AJ Home program.
Arts and Literature (Preschool): These groups enjoy books, crafts, and games with a different theme each week. So far, they have celebrated Dr. Seuss Week and Eric Carle Week. Upcoming themes include Fairy Tales, Bible Stories, Oceans, Seasons, Nature, and more!
Computers and Photography: This camp is divided into two groups:
- Starter Group: Students are introduced to the basics of computer usage, internet and email, Microsoft Office applications, and online safety and security.
- Advanced Group: Students learn about artificial intelligence (AI), including its components, types, applications, and ethical implications.
Drama: The drama camp is working on the play “Noah and the Ark.” In the first week, they focused on casting, costumes, and backdrops. The group will present the play in four weeks, followed by a second group performing the same play.
Each camp day starts with breakfast and tutoring, followed by lunch, and then the camp activities from 2-4 p.m. Attendance at tutoring is required to participate in the camp, as it is considered a privilege.
We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and creativity of our campers and look forward to the many exciting weeks ahead!
