Unfortunately, UNICEF estimates that there are 4.5 million orphans in Ethiopia. Out of this number, it is estimated that approximately 100,000 live on the streets in Addis Ababa alone.
Why is this number so significant? Most children become orphans because of the many negative effects of extreme poverty. In the capital city of Ethiopia where we are working, there are parents that are struggling to give their children just the basic needs such as food, clothing, and education.
