Teen Board Volunteers
Our Teen Board is growing, and we need dedicated volunteers to help make it a success!
Do you enjoy working with high school students? Want to make an impact on the lives of youth in Raleigh, NC—and in Ethiopia? We’re building a team of volunteers to assist with Teen Board meeting logistics, lead small group projects, support fundraisers and campaigns, and serve as encouraging adult presences in these students’ lives.
This is a unique opportunity to support young leaders here at home while also making a global impact.
10-Year Night of New Beginnings/Development Committee
Do you have an interest in helping our 10-year celebration events go off without a hitch? Want to learn more about fundraising and development strategy—and how you can contribute? Have a knack for marketing and/or digital communications and a few hours to give?
Join our Night of New Beginnings 10-Year Celebration & Development Committee!
The commitment is just two to three meetings per year. There will also be opportunities to volunteer at events and during campaigns throughout the year based on your interests, skill set, and availability.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in one day joining the Addis Jemari Board—it offers a meaningful look into what it takes to make AJ thrive on the U.S. side.
Silent Auction and Live Raffle Committee
We will be soliciting donated items from corporations and members of the community. We need volunteers to drop off solicitation letters and follow up by picking up donations and delivering them to our office.
Revenue from the silent auction and live raffles is a crucial part of our annual funding, so we are looking for highly motivated individuals comfortable with asking for donated items to help us raise funds.
Meeting Coordinators
This volunteer position is geared towards those who can assist in coordinating various needs for meetings, including Teen Board meetings, AJ Board meetings, committee meetings, and volunteer team meetings. Volunteers are responsible for helping to coordinate meeting spaces and organizing meals and snacks. Their duties also encompass picking up the food and delivering it to the meeting location. Meetings occur sporadically throughout the year, and AJ will reach out to the volunteers a few weeks in advance of the meetings to check their availability to help coordinate them.
Thank You Note Writer

This work can be done at home and delivered back to Addis Jemari. This role entails ongoing work with peak periods in May and June, following our annual fundraising event, as well as in December and January, after our Fall Fling and end-of-year campaign.
